Sabrina Malheiros: the full interview | Jazz FM

Chris Philips chatted to the Brazilian songstress Sabrina Malheiros about her gig at London’s Boisdale in Jazz FM’s Discovery Show series.

They also talked about her musical influences and Brazilian upbringing.One of this year’s hottest tips for the top, Sabrina’s music is a beguiling, inspirational combination of hip-hop, electronica, bossas and sambas, all shot through with superb modern songwriting.

The timeless element in her work comes as a result of her considerable musical pedigree; Sabrina’s father is Alex Malheiros from legendary Brazilian funk/fusion band Azymuth, and in the past she has performed with them onstage.

Sabrina’s voice has appeared on numerous chill-out compilations, and tracks such as ‘Maracatueia’ from the album ‘Equilibria’ feature a remixed samba and jazz/house sound.
